Sometimes I just feel the need to get in my truck and drive.
My husband was home today and after a week full of home owner disasters, I felt the need to go for a drive. I texted my husband and made sure he didn’t have plans, then texted my friend to see if she wanted to go for a drive and picked her up.
This trip was unplanned, my friend and I had just discussed going for a drive….. Then after a conversation with my brother while getting a nail in my tire fixed, I asked if she was up for an adventure….
Note: I always make sure my truck is full of gas, my tires are evenly pressured, my phone is fully charged and I have extra snacks and water in case I get stuck somewhere. It is also a good idea to have a First Aid Kit.
The road starts with a big hill that is fairly rocky but not terrible. You will want a 4×4 with decent tires and clearance for this drive.

This is a place I grew up learning to dirt bike and quad, cooking lunch over a camp fire next to this creek.
Although it has changed a lot I still love visiting here, sitting by the creek and listening to the water rush by.
The drive can be a little bit sketchy in places after lots of rain, especially with all of those big puddles.
One website in particular I find useful is: https://backcountrybc.ca they have an interactive map of back roads with any safety notices or service bulletins so you can also check before you go and see what roads have active logging, bridge repairs needed or landslides blocking them before driving a long distance only to have to turn around!
This post is just for fun!
Sorry guys but no directions or names for this one! It’s already getting destroyed by people leaving garbage and camping, so I just wanted to share some photos and thoughts about getting out for the afternoon. If you recognize this place, please do not share the name! Just simply do some research in your own hometown of backroads and accessible places for your vehicle that you could adventure to.
This was not a ‘Mom trip’ however I have brought my kids on this drive and they have enjoyed it. The views, the creek, the serenity of being away from other people… it is worth the drive….Every. Single. Time.
Also don’t forget- Moms deserve breaks too. Even if you just go get a coffee or tea and sit somewhere with your windows down, enjoy the fresh air. Take time for you. You deserve it. It is not selfish, it is imperative.
As always, thank you for reading! Drop a comment below and tell me what kind of posts you want to see next!!
